The purpose of Occupy 2.0 is to further the efforts begun last year (2011) by Occupy Wall Street through creative, entertaining and thought provoking presentations known as "pranks." Hopefully these little demonstrations will lead to first dialog and then direct action amongst people of all demographics against the single greatest threat to humankind today, economic inequality.
Our mission is to engage the people who view our pranks in a positive and embracing manner. The most important aspect of our mission is to communicate, not to offend. Our hope is to include as many individuals in the important work begun by the 2011 Occupy movement as possible so that this message of hope is heard loud and clear around the entire world.
Occupy 2.0 is about upgrading the movement begun in 2011. Taking the time to reflect upon the actions of 2011 we hope to learn from our mistakes and look for new and more effective ways to continue spreading the message of Occupy. Our belief is that the time of tents has passed and that it is equally as important to occupy the attention of the media and the minds of the 99% as it is to occupy small plots of land. The tent is now and forever shall be the symbol of the birth of the Occupy movement, but the time has come to take down our tents and move into the more permanent structures of our homes where we shall gather ourselves together and organize, strategize and plan for our reemergence next spring.
Occupy 2.0 firmly believes in the strength of the Occupy Movement and it's legitimacy as a vehicle for social change. Winter is not the end of the Occupy movement, it is simply a time to regroup, reflect and retool our efforts so we are better prepared to make a more organized reemergence next spring. Let's plan events. Let's gather buttons, bumper stickers and fliers to promote the cause. Let's work on preparing informational pamphlets to better educate the public about who and what Occupy is all about. Let's prepare for spring 2012 so that with each and every passing season thereafter we shall continue to prove ourselves more efficiently organized, better equipped and even better prepared to spread the Occupy message across the entire land.
Remember, the tents are only the first fruits of the Occupy movement, they are not the only fruits. Truly, the best is yet to come.
